The Junior Cycle
 
The Junior Cycle is being introduced across all schools on a phased basis.  It will feature newly developed subjects and short courses, a focus on literacy, numeracy and key skills, and new approaches of assessment and reporting.

Note:  Provision is made for students who may not be able to take the full range of subjects.  A reduced timetable can be made available with learning support provided during the necessary times.
 
Transition Year
 
Why consider Transition Year?
  • A year to mature
  • Students who complete Transition Year score on average 70 CAO points more than those who did not. The average Leaving Certificate repeat student scores only 50 CAO points higher.
  • The curriculum has been developed with an academic focus to provide a strong foundation for the Leaving Certificate.

There are three Leaving Certificate programmes offered:

  • Leaving Certificate (Established)
  • Leaving Certificate Applied
  • Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme

In general, students taking this option study seven exam subjects.
